Jelsum

We visited the farm where my father grew up in Jelsum (a 15 minute bike ride from where my parents live in Leeuwarden), one of his best friends (they know each other from Elementary School), Durk, lives there now with his brother. The boys loved all the space and had a good time playing around the farm. And there were tons of swallow nests in the barn!

visit Esther, Servaas, Aeneas, Mateo and baby Anna

My friends Esther and Servaas and their kids came to Nijmegen and had dinner with us. It was great to see all of them and meet their newest addition, Anna, who is now 4 months old.

Nijmegen

Wytske, the boys, and me took the train into Nijmegen (5 minutes from where my sister lives) and walked around. The boys loved the labyrinth and could not get enough of it. The next day I took Wytse and Daniel to the hairdresser (for the very first time! so far we had always done it ourselves).

Amsterdam!

We had a great day in Amsterdam! We took the train from Tiel to get there, then walked along the water to go to Nemo (the science museum). The boys were quite impressed with all the new and old buildings. We also stopped for some coffee and a muffin and a cookie at Starbucks. That was weird for the boys, it sort of felt like home to them. We met my friend Amanda in Nemo and spent a lot of time there. Nemo is very similar to other science museums we have been before and of course Wytse, Daniel and Arwin loved this one too. Then we walked to my friend Suus who just had her third baby, a boy. So we admired her baby and the boys played with her older boys. We had dinner at her house and much too soon it was time to walk back to the train station to take the train back to Nijmegen.

Kerk-Avezaath

We went to my aunt and uncle's in Kerk-Avezaath for 2 nights (where the twins got to sleep in a tent again) and were there on my aunt's birthday so I got to hang out with 3 of my cousins and another aunt. Also my parents came to visit. We had a great time. They have such a great yard with lots of little corners to sit, an orchard with apple, pear, plum and walnut trees, sheep, a goat, chickens and a great scoot mobile that you can take rides on that my uncle made, and of course my uncle's trains that run through the yard. The boys loved it and my uncle is a real inspiration to them.It was really fun and relaxing.
